Members did not pay points, which in most financial institutions cost between 1% and 3% of the borrowed sum. This was a significant savings for members.

Selfreliance Federal Credit Union has pursued a policy of active involvement within the Ukrainian community and acted as a stimulus for the community's growth. The Ukrainian-owned properties in the tourist center of Wisconsin Dells were assessed at $18 million in the early 1970's.
