A Credit Union is a cooperative financial organization, whose members have something in common. The "field of membership" for Selfreliance Ukrainian American Federal Credit Union (SUAFCU) is Selfreliance Association of American-Ukrainians, Inc.

Opening an account at Selfreliance Ukrainian American Federal Credit Union

Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.

Providing this information will help us to protect your account from misappropriation and identity theft.

Share Savings Accounts

SUAFCU Share Accounts are dividend-bearing savings accounts. These deposits earn dividends each day they are on the account.

Hand ShakeA minimum $5.00 balance must remain on deposit in the account. This is your basic membership share. A minimum balance of $10.00 is required on your share account for dividend accrual. For further information click here for the Truth-in-Savings Disclosure.

Regular Share Accounts at the Credit Union carry member life insurance of up to $2,000 at no cost to our members. For an explanation of this benefit please refer to the information listings on this website.

When a member opens a share account they are provided with a passbook, in which all deposits and withdrawals are recorded when presented to a teller.

  • Cash can be deposited only at a teller window. All SUAFCU offices accept cash deposits, allow cash withdrawals, and cash checks. Please see list of Credit Union locations.
  • Check deposits can be made at a teller window, by mail, using the credit union's night deposit box, or at an ATM. Deposits can also be made to a share account by Direct Deposit, ACH or Wire Transfer.

For your convenience, Share Accounts may be used as overdraft protection for Share Draft (Checking) Accounts.*

  • Organization

Life Savings Benefit

As a benefit of Credit Union membership, SUAFCU provides life insurance for share account holders. The individual whose name and Social Security number identify the account is the person who is insured. Please go to Life Savings Benefit.
