Selfreliance FCU Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response

On Tuesday May 26, 2020 we will begin transitioning to pre-pandemic operations. All locations will revert to normal business hours and provide full services. Our standard fee schedule will also be reinstated.

Anyone entering our locations will be required to have a face covering. Please note that we may ask you to briefly remove the covering to verify your identity.

We will have aids to help maintain social distancing of six feet or more, including a limit to the number of staff and members inside the credit union.

Selfreliance FCU is now participating in the U.S. Small Business Administration Paycheck Protection Program. Selfreliance FCU members with businesses impacted by coronavirus-related issues between February 15 and June 30, 2020 may apply for SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program loans via Selfreliance FCU. To help our members during this time we are waiving fees thru at least the end of April for the following services:

  • Selfreliance FCU will rebate out-of-network ATM fees. On May 1st all out-of-network ATM fees charged in April 2020 will be automatically refunded to the member's account
  • NSF, Courtesy Pay, and Overdraft Fees
  • Early withdrawal penalties on share certificates
  • Excessive withdrawal fees for non-transactional accounts
  • Non-member Check Cashing fees
  • Fees for currency requests over $20,000
  • Inactive Account fees
  • Official Check or Money Order fees

Dear valued member, as of March 21st in order to minimize exposure of employees and members to COVID-19, we are limiting in-person services at all locations to only the following:

  • Safe deposit box access
  • Wire transfers
  • Lost/Stolen debit card instant replacement
  • Personal loan disbursement

All locations will continue to provide teller services as usual during regular business hours.

  • In the Home Office – all services are done at the walk-up window.
  • In the Warren Office – all services to be done at the Drive-Through, one of the lanes will be blocked off for foot traffic.

All other services will be provided by phone during regular business hours or online 24/7. In addition, to better serve your needs we have increased our capacity to answer member calls to our toll free 888/222-8571 number.

  • If you are currently in the process of applying or refinancing a mortgage, please contact your loan officer.
  • If you have any questions about mortgages, please email mortgages@selfreliance.com.
  • If you have any questions about consumer loans, please email members@selfreliance.com.

We encourage all members to use our online and mobile banking platforms. Many applications and transactions may be completed and performed from the comfort of your home.

For locations with Night Deposit Boxes, the boxes are monitored throughout the day and may be used to drop off checks.

We have increased Mobile Deposit limits to $5,000/day and $10,000/month.

Selfreliance FCU is closely monitoring new developments regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and take this threat very seriously. We are meeting regularly to review the most current guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and state and local authorities in order to make proactive adjustments to our preparedness and response plans. We have heightened our cleaning standards to adhere to CDC guidelines. Our top priority is the health and safety of our members and employees.

Due to the ongoing concerns over the coronavirus (COVID-19), Selfreliance FCU is implementing the following changes to our operations as of 03/17/2020 in order to adhere to the social distancing and other recommendations from health authorities to minimize the spread of the virus:

  • All in-person loan applications and meetings are being suspended. Members are encouraged to call in or email with any questions and to email all required documents if possible; if not, documents can be dropped off and they will be delivered to the loan officer.
    • If you are currently in the process of applying or refinancing, please contact your loan officer for more information.
    • If you have any questions about mortgages, please email mortgages@selfreliance.com.
    • If you have any questions about consumer loans, please email members@selfreliance.com.
  • In the Home Office – the Walk-Up window is open during the day
  • In the Warren Office – all teller transactions to be done at the Drive-Through, one of the lanes will be blocked off for foot traffic. Member service functions will be done in the lobby in order to provide a barrier between employees and members.
  • A portion of our staff will be working from home. Shifts for employees working onsite are being staggered.
  • Protective equipment is provided for onsite employees.
  • The number of tellers in our lobby areas are being limited and member service employees are moving to work-stations that provide a barrier between employees and members.
  • As mentioned earlier, increased cleaning standards to adhere to CDC guidelines

The 69th Annual Meeting that was scheduled for has been postponed. Annual meeting notices will be sent once a new date is confirmed.

The Keys to Home Buying Seminar that was scheduled for March 21, 2020 at 10:00AM ET at the Ukrainian American Cultural Center of New Jersey in Whippany has been postponed, a new date has not been set at this time.

We all need to join together and adhere to the following guidelines prescribed by public health officials to keep our communities safe:

  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid excessively touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, and then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
